Not as bad as some of the other reviews make it out although its not high quality. It's pretty worn out although they are trying to fix it up. The rooms are large, but the beds are old and they don't provide a desk. The linens are also older and low quality. Nothing else about the rooms is worth mentioning either negatively or positively. The exercise room was good sized, but the equipment was rather dated. Everything was in working order which was a plus. I skipped the pool since there was so much chlorine it even burned my eyes just to walk in the area. The breakfast is much better than I was expecting. They had a continental option, but I skipped that and went for the frittata. It was extremely good although enough food for 3 people so I didn't even come close to finishing it. The only weird part is that they don't clean the tables until after the breakfast period is over so don't show up late and expect a choice of tables. Other than that the service was decent.

Unfortunately, you have to pick a star before you can writes a review. They don't deserve one. I'm so tired of my room phone not working to call room service or any other of the guest service buttons. Why have then us they don't work??? So I call the front desk and they connect me to the bar, who informs me that I need to come down in my pajamas if I want anything. What planet do they live on???

I stayed in the hotel for one night because I was in the NBA honors band. The service was the worst, I forgot my coat in the room (a common occurrence) and tried to get it back. When explaining this to the worker at the front desk she said that they couldn't get me my coat because room cleaning had left and they are the only ones with keys to lost and found, and I would have to come back in the morning. Are there not any keys in the whole hotel to the lost and found? That seams backwards and like the worker was lying to make her own life easier. After an hour, an contacting the NBA director to help with leverage in getting my coat back I finally got it back. This is completely ridiculous, customers who have forgotten items should not have to drive back in the morning to get them, especially because people who stay at hotels don't generally live close.

What a cute place in a cute town at the right price I have heard this place has new owners and you can tell. Our room was very clean, bed was comfy, I ate at the breakfast buffet in the morning and it was delicious and kids under 4 were free! The servers at the restaurant were very sweet too. We had a large group all stay here and lots of small (annoying) children and the staff was very sweet to us. They did not even seem annoyed by our crazy kids running around. The pool and hot tub are great. Nothing over the top but, kept my kids happy. Over all it was an excellent stay in great location and I will go here again for sure!

Hotel is under renovation and has one of the wings completely closed. The rooms are very large (i.e. lots of room to do yoga), but with poor furniture and mediorce bedding. Decent pool, fitness area, and hot tub. Way too much chlorine! The two restaurant are large, but I was not impressed with the quality or the service at all. The bar is well stocked though and they had my favorite burbon. Service was friendly at the bar. Overall, probably the best your can get in Wisconsin Rapids, but that's not saying much. Quanity and size trumps quality at this mediocre hotel.

There are some indications that this hotel is at a low point. There were some fixtures and furniture that appeared worn down and ready to be replaced. The metal towel shelf in the bathroom, for example, was almost ready to come off of the wall. The climate control was, shall we say, difficult. Clearly, the hotel was built sometime in the 80s or 90s and it needs to be spruced up a bit. But... the room was quite comfortable regardless. We had no complaints about the bedding. The pool is great, but definitely a tad over chlorinated. We did not eat in the restaurants, but we did enjoy the pizza from Cafe Mulino that we had sent up to the room. It was a wood fired pizza, something I appreciate. It was clearly made with good ingredients. The only thing lacking was an Italian sense of proportion. I think that if the executive chef could just take a quick trip over to Il Ritrovo in Sheboygan they'd be pretty first rate. We also developed a slightly obsessive fondness for their cranberry bread. The employees were friendly and kind. Overall, I'd recommend this place without hesitation and I'm moved to write this because I felt that the other reviewer's comments were overly harsh. I'd be happy to give them four stars, but there were things that marred an otherwise fine experience... shower fixtures, etc.

Several family members decided to visit our mother over Memorial Day weekend and take her out for Sunday brunch, only to discover there is no Sunday brunch at the Mead. Our only option was Cafe Mulino, and since we all like Italian, we decided to try it. Let's start with the most positive part of the meal - the staff was very friendly and the service was good. Unfortunately the food was not good. We ordered the chicken fettucine (family style), one ravioli pomodoro, and one fettucine Alfredo cause my nephew was craving Alfredo. (It would have been nice if they told us the chicken fettucine was already Alfredo.) We started with salad and breadsticks. The salad was pretty good with lots of toppings (tomato, olives, etc). The bread sticks were borderline inedible. Then the food came out. The chicken fettucine was drowned in a very thick, bland Alfredo sauce. Everyone at the table kept adding salt and pepper to no avail. The same sauce was on my nephew's dish, so no need to rehash that. My second nephew had the ravioli pomodoro, which was a cheese ravioli in a marinara sauce. The ravioli was overcooked and the cheese filling was bland. The marinara tasted like it came out of a jar (actually, I think I have had better from a jar). We were not given any Parmesan to add to our dishes, but since I am pretty sure it comes out of a giant green can, that was probably a good thing. The Mead used to be the place to go for an upscale meal in Rapids, so this was very disappointing. I am not a fan of Olive Garden, but I would go there over this place anytime.
